Doug Tallamy to Speak presented by Guilford Land Conservation Trust

September 12, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Doug Tallamy, nationally known author of Nature’s Best Hope, Bringing Nature Home, The Nature of Oaks, and The Living Landscape, Professor of Entomology and Wildlife Ecology at the University of Delaware, will speak at Guilford High School Performing Arts Center Monday, Sept. 12, 7:00 p.m.

Tallamy is noted for his research revealing the unbreakable link between native plant species and native wildlife—native insects cannot, or will not, eat alien plants. When native plants disappear, insects disappear, impoverishing the food source for birds and other animals, including humans.

As he states on the website he co-founded, Homegrown National Park, “We are at a critical point of losing so many species from local ecosystems that their ability to produce the oxygen, clean water, flood control, pollination, pest control, carbon storage, etc., that is, the ecosystem services that sustain us, will become seriously compromised.”

Hear why we are “nature’s best hope,” and what each of us can do to preserve life on earth.
