The Millrace: Ivoryton’s History and The 1982 Flood

Back for a repeat performance Essex Land Trust and Essex Historical Society (which is investigating Ivoryton in 2023 as part of the collaborative Follow the Falls project) are planning a reprise of last year’s program commemorating the historic Ivoryton Flood of 1982. Essex Land Trust steward, Scott McCoid, will lead a walking tour of the Millrace Preserve covering Ivoryton’s history, the company that built it, and the Flood that punctuated the end of an era. Over 70 individuals attended last year’s event making the occasion one of the most attended recent outdoor programs. Rain Date: Sunday June 4. Parking: Ivory St. and Public Lot at Ivoryton Green. The event is free and open to all ages.
