Trail Guide
The latest edition of the Essex Land Trust Preserves & Trail Guide includes all properties acquired through 2019. All trails, significant stone walls, access points and points of interest have been mapped out via GPS location to improve overall accuracy. Some preserves such as Thatchbed Island and the marshlands of the Great Meadow are inaccessible. They have no trails and are set aside as wildlife habitat.
Some of our trails are available on Connecticut Trail Finder and we are working on adding more. Trail Guides are given free to all new land trust members. They can also be purchased for $15.00 from various local outlets: The Connecticut River Museum, The Griswold Inn Shop, Gracie’s Corner, Essex Hardware, and Wild Birds Unlimited in Old Saybrook.
